My iPhone 5s won't let me open text until about after half an hour of use. It's been taking longer lately. What should I do?

Sounds like a bug it could have is making it go slower I would say try getting a virus protection on your phone, preferably one from your Wireless company.

Have your tried cleaning your cache? And updating the iphone to the latest or restoring the iphone to the same ios and not recovering the data by the itunes backup. Might be something messing up with your backup. Backup your iphone manually i.e. by iTools or icloud
then restore to the same ios (if possible or update to the latest ios version) then don't restore the data back.
Try it before restoring to the backup..if all goes well, then there was something wrong with your backup. might be any file or so.

You're welcome, I hope you get your phone working, yeah if you do factory reset always have your contacts, pics, emails all backed up before you do anything.

By "opening text" do you mean opening a message? Or actually opening iMessages itself.

If you can't open any messages until half an hour after using your phone, then it sounds like an issue with your actual device.

On the other hand, if you're getting a push notification alert about a message, but not seeing the message for a little while, then that sounds more like a problem with your network signal or carrier...

I'm not able to even open the texting app thingy. It comes up with the white screen like it's gonna go but then after a minute it crashes and goes to home screen.

I had this same problem. Try turning your data off and then back on. Also if you have emails automatically updating then that can do it too apparently something to do with how much data I was using...
