Kids shouldn't have computers. At least not with the internet. There's not only pornography but a lot of other messed up stuff they can see...
What are the benefits of having your own computer as a kid?

Having a computer is always good :)
1. You can do your homework faster because you can type it up.
2. You also get access to the internet so you can do research on any topic.
3. You get to learn new information on any topic you want. And then you can apply all that knowledge in future jobs.
4. You can use all the information you learn and become an expert in any field. Then you also have the ability to add your skills to job applications. This will help you out tremendously in standing out from other job applicants.
Basically knowing more about several areas of study will benefit you very much in your life. Well, those are some of the benefits of having a computer :) Good luck :)

There are many benefits!
~ Studying nowadays is mostly done online. Sites used by schools such as Edmodo really help!
~ Staying in contact with friends, especially ones who have moved away etc
~ You can prove responsibility
I believe it depends on the age of the child. Anyone older than about 9 or 10 should have their own computer, however, parents should check what the child is doing on the internet.
Basically, it is the parent's decision as to whether or not their child is ready to have their own computer or not, and also the rules around cyber networking.
