For you, I don't know. I don't know you personally, so I don't know what you like or what are your hobbies. I suggest trying them both out.

Both of them are free to use but it would be better if you give WP a go although blogpost is owned by google so it might outrank WP sites easily.

For starting your blogging portal, I would recommended you Wordpress. It will provide you with more features and free themes as compare to Blogspot.

I vote WordPress. A Self-hosted WordPress blog.

The reason is simple - you have full control over your blog and can do anything you want. WordPress is an amazing platform that's easy to learn and easy to use.

Most people opt for WordPress because it is so versatile. There are a variety of themes to make your site look more appealing and original without the need for complicated programming. As your site starts to earn money and get more visitors, you can also upgrade and even hire a designer to make it stand out. There are a few key questions to consider before taking this step. http://www.wpamplify.com/10-questions-to-ask-before-hiring-a-web-designer-for-your-wordpress-site/

With all that in mind, Blogspot is very easy for newbies. It only takes a short while to setup but it somewhat less versatile. However, if you have limited experience, you can learn a lot from this experience, build up a readership and get your feet wet.

As a user of blogger myself I will say that it is a nice website. I don't know too much in the way of features. My blog is for hobby purposes only, so all I need is to put the body of the blog, a title, and add a picture of my choosing. Blogger also is connected to my Google account and for me, that is important. Best of luck to you!
