Press , alt , control, and delete and bring up your task manager and see what is running. If there things running you wish to stop, just click that item and then click stop.

Almost everyone who has used Internet Explorer has run into a long running script error on their computer while browsing the web. The good news is, there's nothing wrong with your PC.

Any message relating to a long running script error refers to the website you are trying to read, rather than a mistake you have made. The message is really for website testers and developers who are constructing a new page or website, and the message alerts them to a piece of incorrect code.

More often than not, you can ignore the message and click no, and then refresh the page.

To turn off the option of having long running script messages appearing on your PC, do as follows:

  • Click the Tools/click Internet Options.
  • Click Advanced/select Disable script debugging/tick appropriate boxes.
  • Clear "Display a notification about every script error" box/ click OK.

If a similar error appears while you are trying to connect to the internet, and your computer takes a long time to do so, the problem could be more involved. Take a look at http://www.sevenforums.com/browsers-mail/315469-how-do-i-fix-long-running-script.html for some detailed technical advice, but make sure you return to Blurtit once you've finished!
