Minecraft is one of the most popular games of all time. Whether its the best varies from person to person. I personally believe minecraft is in the top 5 best games of all time along with Halo 2, Pac man world 2, wario land 4 and counterstrike.

There are hundreds, even thousands of servers that you can go on to play different types of games with your Minecraft character. You can even make a minecraft skin for your character (for free) or you can get one pre-made (for free) online.
