Matt Cutts, Google's Head of Webspam, has released several videos recently explaining that guest blogging is no longer considered a viable way to build links.

In fact, his view is that sites that gain unnatural links through poor quality blog posts, article spinning, posting duplicate content, and so forth... Are actually doing themselves a disservice in terms of SEO.

So, basically, if you're employing an SEO technique that relies on link building through submitting low-quality articles, then now would be the time to stop before your site gets penalised by Google.

Building Quality links are more important than the quantity
links. Agree with the above information. Poor quality links definitely affect
your website in a bad way. Even if you are going to do guest blogging, content
must be unique, creative and informative.

Also it should be posted on the well
reputed site so that indirectly it can give importance to our site too.

Guest posting is a very good strategy to drive traffic, increase sales, and grow your brand. Matt Cutts stated it himself. And while he has been critical of it in recent years, by no means is he trying to say that you shouldn’t guest post. Instead, he is stating that it is becoming spammy. The reason guest posting won’t work the same way it used to be is because some are trying to guest post on irrelevant blogs. The content they are publishing isn’t high in quality either. In other words, they are trying to do the bare minimum to get a link, so it’s YES, as long as you do guest blogging in a right way.

Guest blogging is good for SEO as it helps in ranking if you can get invitations to popular / established websites.

You write a blog article according to the requirements of a particular blogger and get a backlink in return, usually in the bottom of the article which is called the Author Box.

Guest blogging establishes a relationship with the blogger hosting your post, taps into their audience for additional exposure, and helps you establish authority among an audience.
