Yes, the incident happened in the Colindale area of North London, England.

Apparently, a 23-year old was attacked after he was walking home from a supermarket after purchasing the hotly anticipated game on its release night.

A news report on The Telegraph claimed that he was attacked by a group of people who hit him him with a brick and then stabbed him!

This incident is likely to fuel the fires of debate about what effect violent video games are having on society, but my opinion is that there'd unfortunately be mindless thugs out there regardless of whether Xboxes were ever invented.
