In the past few years, Google have been refining the way they identify the websites that searchers want to see. They do this through search algorithms that have become increasingly more complex, and more and more difficult to "game".

Historically though, there have always been people who have tried (and succeeded) to manipulate search engines.

Is Black Hat SEO dead?

Webmasters that trick Google into thinking their website deserves to outrank others in their field through frowned-upon search optimization techniques are labelled "black hat".

And there is a belief that, as Google becomes more advanced, the opportunities and loopholes for these "black hat SEO experts" to game the system are becoming fewer and further between.

During the latest Blurtit Google Hangout on Air, SEO experts Sean Clark and Duncan Johnson shared their opinions on whether black hat SEO is still effective, or whether Google have finally stamped it out.

As SEO is evolving these days I would say online marketing techniques and strategies are changing daily.

What works today doesn't mean it will be effective tomorrow related to SEO industry.

Do not concentrate only for link building try to implement ' growth hacking ' techniques into your marketing plan.

No.I still seeing many marketers promoting stuffs through black hat.

E.g you can find lot of affiliate promotion done through Google drive,Google sites,wordpress.com and blogspot blogs.

All of them are spam blogs created in mass and get promoted overnight and ranking in the search engines.Google can't beat the shit.

Black hat sites don't seem to last very long these days though, i truly believe Google is getting more and more sophisticated at dealing with spammers.
Or at least I hope they are, for the benefit of the internet...

Google’s doing their best to eliminate black hat SEO, for the sole purpose of providing fair, relevant and high quality search query results. Google started it’s crusade on Penguin algorithm, the first anti-black hat flat form, that penalize websites with malignant SEO tactics, until now Google is still in their crusade and promise that they will do whatever they can to provide fair search.
