What Is Information Expanded Data Processing?

Information expanded data processing is the function performed by computer software when data is entered into a computer system, with the objective of producing an end result from the data. The process could be considered as four steps:

• The input of the data.

Original data is entered into the computer system, ready to be processed in the desired way. For instance, a person could type information into a word document. Alternatively, data could be collected from the Internet. This is a fundamental step as it provides the data structures of the computer with some information to work with.

• The processing of the data.

This is the point of the process at which original data is changed in some way to produce something else. For instance, a person may have logged in a spreadsheet how much they have spent that week on different items and activities. They could then select a function that would show them how much money they had spent in total. A new figure is produced; the data has been processed.

• The output of data.

This is the point at which processed data in its finished form is transferred out of the computer system. This part of the process could occur via an output device such as a printer or scanner. Alternatively, information could be uploaded onto the Internet.

• The storage of data.

This is a non-vital part of the process that offers the computer user the change to store their data in an easily accessible location on their computer. Software will transform the data into a form that will require only a small amount of memory to store.

The information expanded data process cycle forms the fundamental function of the modern day computer. The majority of us use it regularly without even realizing. Currently, technological improvements are being made to make it more efficient.
