Looking for a lost relative can be quite simple as you already would be having the name and the address of that person. In case you do not have the exact address but at least the city or the country, you can easily look for that person's history and the present location.

After you obtain the name of the person and the city, you can go online and enter the name of the person on that city's residential status page. You can also check the yellow pages of that city in this case. In case you do not find the person, you will need to go to that city and enquire about the same in the local state office.

The person responsible there will give you all the details he has about that person. You can also ask your present relatives about that person as they might have some kind of information.

Try looking online. There are many online databases that have information regarding address, phone numbers, employment, religious affiliation...etc...if you have some basic information visit a few sites with public records information you could access.

Oh well I'll suggest you to find your brother through websites like facebook and orkut. These social websites will help you a lot. If you know some of his friends names or email addresses you can also ask them for help. You can also try to find him through online directories if you know in which country he is living at the moment. Try to find these directories with the help of Google. A long lasting relationship is hard to find. And to find somebody on the Internet is a little harder because so many people have joined dating site and they lie about there age and about their true identity. So you have to be very careful.
