Pokemon Ruby cannot be played online. There are a number of tips and training videos available online through the website www.gamespot.com. Pokemon Ruby was a game that was released, for use with the Game Boy Advance, in 2003 in most parts of the world. The game was part of the third generation of the Pokemon video game series, sometimes called the advanced generation. The game, one of three, was released alongside Pokemon Sapphire and Pokemon Emerald. The player controls the characters from overhead on these Pokemon games and the controls used are the same as those used in the first two generations, and subsequent generations, of the series. One of the major differences of the gameplay compared to the first two generations of Pokemon games, was that the game could be played by up to four people at a time, previously the limit was two. The games sold less than previous Pokemon games, although they were still the best selling games available for the Game Boy Advance, shifting over 13 million copies. Pokemon Ruby also has limited support from e-Reader. Nintendo released a number of Battle e-Cards in conjunction with the game and these contained trainer battles where the player could view previously unseen Pokemon. The player could also reach Southern Island by using the Eon ticket where they would face Latios. Pokemon Ruby was later available as part of the Pokemon Box for playing on the Nintendo GameCube console. This was release as a bundle with a Game Boy Advance cable and a memory card in 2004 in North America. The box was only available to purchase online through the New York Pokemon Center and is now no longer available to purchase. The game was also released as a showcase title on the GameCube although there were no new features in this version.
