I have a top of the range Advent 7555GX Gaming Laptop with a top of the range graphics card and 4Gig of RAM and the Sims 3 still just randomly shuts down after playing it for a few hours loosing my whole game. OR it freezes whilst in Save mode and doesnt save. I have to then close Sims 3 using Windows Task Manager.

I don't think its the actual PC's thats the issue its the game itself.

I'm having the same problem only my system is more of a haus than the game.  The game closing itself and bringing me back to my desktop is not due to pc performance or graphics.  Maybe its the most recent patches because I don't recall having this problem before.

Try lowering the graphics in the settings menu, thats what I done and now its fine, but also save it often just incase. If that doesnt work then, like someone else said it might be you don't have that much meory, so delete things you don't need or use like old music, photos or videos or save them oto a memory card. I hope this helps!

I am the person who has the same problem, and i have now found out whats wrong
if your computer is fujitsu siemens like mine, then the laptop cannot take the graphics that are on sims 3 so it will turn off, i asked someone in Currys
you need a laptop like sony, or one strong enough or a desktop is best if you want to play games really..

I had to update the sims from the expansion pack disk.
Click my computer, Right click "Sims3EP01", open the support folder, open the update folder, use one of the updates in there. I just used the first one, now it works perfectly

My game loads fine, and when I get to my family its on  pause and its normal, and then when I try to do something like move or click on anything my game shuts off and returns me to my desktop. I have been having problems for about five days now. I have reinstalled many times, and that seems NOT to work. I have tried a system restore but no luck there. Any ideas on whats happening?? I am a sims FREAK and soooo addicted and all I really want to do is play :( help!!!

The answer is that you need a strong enough laptop, if your sims 2 walls flashed red then its likely that your sims 3 will turn off on itself because it cannot hold the graphics, as they have made them stronger. You need something like a desktop because these are great for playing games. My laptop is fujitsu siemens and it takes AGES to load the neighbourhood, it takes about 30 mins to load all the way, and then my game goes so slow its really annoying. So you need a really strong laptop like sony or something

You guys have to make sure DEP is turned OFF for Sims 3.

Computer>Propeties>Advance System Settings>Performance Options>Data Execution Prevention

Select Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select. Add TS3.exe and click apply.
