Software and hardware of computer are useless without each other. Basically computer software is a collection of computer programs that can make us to perform certain task on computer. For performing tasks software requires compatible hardware. To make the two things compatible for each other operating system provides an interface to hardware. According to me h/w and s/w are different thing but without the help of each other they cannot run as h/w need s/w as for example with cable (let's consider as S/w) and t.v set(let consider H/w) unless and until both present we can't watch TV.
