I am not sure, but I think you should name your cells.
In Ms Excel, Click on the desired cell and then go to INSERT >NAME >DEFINE> type in the name > ADD. Now that cell is defined. It is possible than now when you create your formula in workbook 1 you can reference the defined name in workbook 2. I THINK THIS MY WORK.
