The first thing to try is logging out and logging in again. I know it sounds obvious and most likely something you have done already but glitches in the internet can cause problems like this to happen and a simple restart of a webpage can cure this. If this has not worked then have you tried opening your hotmail account on a different web browser? If you are using Internet Explorer try FireFox, Safari, Google Chrome or any other provider to see if this solves the problem.

One obstacle you may have to consider is that it may be a temporary fault with hotmail. This could be due to an attack on their server, maintenance work being undertaken on the site or simply their server malfunctioning. So, this may only be a temporary problem that may rectify itself.

If it doesn’t then it may be worth contacting the Hotmail technical support team, there should be a link at the bottom of your email page with the words help centre. Just click on the link and there are multiple troubleshooting questions. If there are no questions that match what your problem then post a question on their forum or alternatively contact the support team directly. They will be able to advise why your email is having these problems as they will be able to access your account to investigate why it is not working properly.

I had the same problem two days ago...but after several attempts I was able to open it. I immediately changed my password. Also weird--today I received password resetting instructions (for my hotmail account) on my alternate email address....hmmm. I think someone is messing with my account. Did you ever regain access to your account?
