Finding a universal remote code for your apex digital television converter box can be made quicker and simpler by searching with the brand of your remote control and specifying whether you need a three or four-digit code. For example if you have a GE remote control, the manufacturer’s website offers a range of codes for both requirements. This information can be found at www.jascoproducts.com/support/universal-remote-codes.asp
There are some websites that offer free universal remote codes for all brands and combinations (e.g. www.remote-codes.com/ or www.remotecentral.com/features/remotes.htm).

Programming your universal remote control with your television converter box is straightforward and can be done reasonably quickly. Carrying on with the GE remote example, their programming manual states that you should first turn on the device you want to make work with the remote and hold down the ‘code search’ button until the lights switch on. Next, press and release the button that corresponds with the device you want to set up, and the light should blink and then remain on.

This is when you enter the code you have found online and if it works, the light will switch off. If the code is not valid then the light will continue to blink and you will need to try a different universal remote code.  To double check that your code has worked, point the remote at the device you have just attempted to set up and press ‘power’. If it switches on or off then you have set everything up correctly, but if nothing happens, you will have to look again for another code.

There are ways to search for a new code within the options on your universal remote control; these code search functions are explained in more details in your remote’s manual. If you have lost the manual for your remote, it is easy to find a copy online.
