Little kids screaming.
The sound of teeth scraping across the sidewalk.
Screeching tires.
The mufflers of those rice burner cars.
The timer going off at the massage parlor.

My best childhood friend had severely buck teeth and used to scrape them on the sidewalk, hoping to file them down a bit. The sound used to drive me crazy. He went on to become a Broadway actor.

I accidentally answered the wrong question before so I'll switch my response to here. Sorry!

That sound when fingernails are dragged across a chalkboard and those crotch rocket motorcycles as they are unnecessarily loud. Oh and rap "music."

The bass beat of rap crap.

Not one of those people who play that garbage know anything about wave mechanics and how a loud bass noise can pass through many things treble and the other wave lengths can't.

The worst sound I ever heard was as I was going over the handlebars in a multiple bicycle crash, was the sound of somebody's head hitting the road. As it happened he was the only rider in the pack wearing a hard helmet, so it was fine -- but it sounded awful.

Rather comically (from a spectators point of view, anyway) he injured himself painfully in another, more personal part of his anatomy. He pleaded with us to take down his shorts and make sure he hadn't lost anything. Seriously. He was much relieved when we were able to confirm that all the dangly bits were still in place.

The thud and metal crunching when a car is in an accident.

A parent or other adult belittling a child.

The cry of a parent whose child has died. (It is different than any other mournful cry.)

Any animal whimpering in pain, but even more so if the animal belongs to me.

The sound of crying.  If it's on TV, I have to change the channel.  Hearing babies or people crying makes me want to stab pencils in my ears.
