Having a Facebook account is safe IF you adjust your privacy settings in such a way where only your friends can see details about you. If your account is made public, that means anyone from around the world can read about you and find out who you are - which means you would be the prey to possible pedophiles stalking people's profiles on Facebook.
Only accept friends that you know in-person, rather than people who randomly added you for no reason (these are the kinds of people that you should be cautious about).
if you have strict privacy setting then I'd say yes it is safe becoz even I use it with strict privacy settings If you do not then I'd say no because there are a number of reasons for a no!
