Glide is an app/online service that allows 'video texting,' films that can be either sent live or recorded and sent later.  This is a private messaging that is free to use and launched in spring 2013.

Glide is an an app available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Glide allows you to record and send an unlimited number of videos that can be viewed by the receiver can even as you're recording them. The glide app is known for being easy to use. You don't even need Wi-fi, as films can be sent over a standard internet connection.

The ability to record video messages makes Glide more versatile that Skype, which depends upon your caller being available to chat at the same time as you.

As of late summer 2013, the company has now committed all its development resources to building out an alternative to Facebook, or maybe even a replacement.
