The main attraction for playing with such an occult device is in that it actually gives the impression of possibly receiving messages from some paranormal source. Having the pointer (with your fingers and possibly someone else's on it as well) move to indicate an 'answer' to your queries is the main point of even performing such an action.
Virtual devices however, behave only in the way their programmer makes them to do. So while such a virtual board could spell out mysterious messages, it would only be messages that the original programmer (or later contributor, if it's been customized) had coded into the program.
