if you're talking about computer networks, then the answer is simply to transfer data.

Why would that be useful? Well, it's fundamental to how we communicate.

Network connections can either be wired or wireless, and the most-used and biggest network is something called the internet, you may have heard of it?

We create network because it can share and transfer files easily. It is also cost effective. Shared programs on a network allows for easier upgrading of the program on a single file server, instead of upgrading individual workstations.
