According to a post on the 'FTA Satellite TV South Africa' Facebook group, e.tv can be found by using the following settings:

• Satellite PAS7
• Frequency - 11460 MHz
• Polarity - Vertical
• Symbol Rate 5.039M/S
• FEC - 3/4

e.tv is the fifth terrestrial television channel in South Africa, following the three state-owned channels (SABC 1, SABC 2 and SABC 3) and the privately owned subscription channel M-Net. It was the first privately owned but free-to-air television station in the country when it launched on 1 October 1998.

The channel's headquarters are in Cape Town, although it broadcasts from both Cape Town and Johannesburg. The prime time evening news bulletin at 19:00 comes from Johannesburg, whereas the 22:00 late-night bulletin is broadcast from Cape Town.
E.tv has a much more liberal attitude to broadcasting adult content and does well in ratings in comparison to the state-owned channels largely because of the blockbuster movies it commonly broadcasts, particularly over the weekends.

The station has often been criticized because of a perceived lack of involvement in and backing for South African produced content. However e.tv has in the past commissioned youth-orientated soap operas such as Backstage and Rhythm City. The show 'Scandal', which is set at a tabloid newspaper, is an example of a show which has increased in popularity after a change in time slots.
E.tv hosts a large amount of foreign shows, for instance the HBO programs The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Whose Line Is It Anyway? It also broadcasts highlights of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on a regular basis. The broadcasting of WWE programming six days per week has led e.tv to brand themselves as 'the home of WWE'. WWE pay-per-view events are now broadcast exclusively by e.tv.
