There is a difference between Satellite & local tv...the difference is that the reception comes from an orbiting Satellite as opposed to transmitting towers...therefore during storms with thick clouds n activity the Satellite signals can be blocked...whereas local tv is only hindered by the rain droplets, meaning very little affect...it would be very rare to lose signal completely for local tv, unless there is a problem with the station or your antenna...as long as you have a quality antenna & waterproof wiring you should have no problem watching local channels during the storms...that is the advantage of digital tv

I believe it does.  I have satellite.  And when ever it storms bad we lose our reception.  But that is because we lose our signal.  But I believe that the tv networks probably have the same issues at times.
