What Is The Function Of Disk Platter?

Hard drives are composed of one or more platters, which store
data.  These platters are coated with magnetic material similar to that
composing audio and video tapes and floppy drives.  The size of the
grain of the magnetic material partially determines the density of the
data that can be written or read from the platter.
