The POP3 or IMAP4 protocols are used for electronic emails and they offer different functionalities to the users, to configure them according to your needs. The comparisons are as follows :-
1) Synchronization with email server - POP3 settings do not allow you to synchronize your email client with the server whereas IMAP4 has a provision for synchronization so that it can be kept updated.
2) Multiple Folders - The POP3 protocol does not allow you to store emails in different folders whereas the IMAP4 allows you to do so.
