I think it's VERY sloppy work of them to keep a site like this down so long. But it seems to happen a lot on this site. In my opinion they need better people running the site, it's now too big and popular to just leave down for weeks at a time.
I miss ffr so much I miss versing random user that have an ffr account please I'm begging you to bring ffr back it's been since forever and I want to play ffr right now and I miss it :< this right here getting me pissed of and getting me boring without ffr people are so bored and ffr better come back online and on the site I miss seeing myself play since 2006 until now ffr doesn't get me bored it get me thinking please I'M BEGGING PLEASE BRING BACK FFR THE SICKEST GAME EVER
Yeah even if you have Stepmania(which I do), we can't get new songs from the FFR Simfile Database and in case you haven't noticed the songs on the official Stepmania site SUCK. And as far as songpacks from other user created websites, I already have all the ones I want, so FFR NEEDS TO GET BACK ONLINE ALREADY!
It's been down for almost a week now, and every time that they try to put it back up, Videochat and I assume other things crash people's browsers, so they take it back down.
I'm starting to get sick of being most likely the only non-admin being able to play FFR so here's to the first release of FFRTools. It allows you to import SM and DWI files and play FFR offline (without the server). It's in ALPHA state; that means not everything works yet and that it might have bugs. Only windows is supported, not sure which versions (tested on Windows XP 32 bit).
February 14th, thank you to the administrators who put their time and effort in to creating an online engine (With all the songs unlocked!) =) I got ripped off for 2 months worth of subscriptions and ended up overdrawn in my bank account because of Synth... I'm not too impressed, it could have been a lot more damaging had I not caught it fast enough to report it. It's great that there's a working forum on behalf of Tasselfoot's generosity, but I would very much like to see the ranking system return (Even if I have to start over again) as well as ability to log in. I knew this would happen, the sad thing it happened only days after I read Tassle's post on his website about what really happened.
I hope we do not lose the amazing community we have all grown to love. Even if the original FFR is abolished, it gives way to produce something bigger, better and with proper ownership. I hope someone deserving takes over the site!
I am about to cry. As geeky as it sounds. I really miss the community, and the game, and all the work I put into my account. Lol, I even paid for a subscription and stuff. Bought 2 T-Shirts. Either way the end is here. I doubt it will ever be back. Life stinks.
It's quite unlikely it will be coming back, it has no reason to be down considering Synth has the server up currently. The only possible reason it could still be down is if the current server is incapable of supporting the bandwidth pressure, I heard Synth is experiencing some financial problems so it's a possibility.
This was indeed a great website.... All the free time I had went into playing on this site.... I wished it came back up though.... To think all the people all over the world are fans of this site and they just shut it down over arguements.. They could have atleast given a closing date...
FFR really needs a twitter or something to keep us in touch in case this kind of crap happens. There's nowhere to go but the main site for info...and there's no main site at the moment. This kind of downtime starts to make you wonder whether they can't pay for the servers or there's some kind of crisis going on. Obviously we won't know because he has no way of telling anyone.
People who are saying it's down for ever need to calm down. It's only been like a month and there are a ton of money issues with the site and etc. Even if Synth never gets back to it, that doesn't mean it's down forever. There were far too many members at the site for it to go down that easy, either a whole bunch of previous members, mods, admins band together or someone buys the site it will definitely be back up. Just give it some time, everything will be sorted out eventually, I've seen this happen on multiple sites before, just be patient.
So just because of a fight, the whole site had to go down with it? How do we even know there was a fight in the first place? It doesn't really seem like anyone has credible citations.
What upsets me is that the FFR staff could leave the site closed for so long without any announcements to its members. :(
Rest in piece. You brought many joy to most of the users, if not all. I met a few friends with you but I'm sure you knew that. Being a user over 5 years... Seeing something like that go down without warning or any sort of reply just kills you on the inside. Maybe it was just time for you to go. Leave on to the next generation of software. But that won't be till many a year.. Please... Just one more whisper on what happened would be great.
Ffr is down because of a lot of reasons it was down for a month or so now and it should come back around 5 10 months or a couple of years but it can't be gone forever it can't happen cause it was once a famous website we all knew =)

4/1/10 ugh ffr was so fun. I remember when I started playing it when I was 12, its almost been 10 years... I miss it a lot, but now I can't procrastinate like I used to, thats the only good thing. But I still look for it. So that wastes some of my time.
What a shame ... Had been a member since Aug of 2003 still checked back to play on occasion. I will really miss the site, it's been a site that has always been there when I needed to pound a few keys ..... Rip FFR since obviously it isn't coming back.
4/23/10 Yeah they aren't coming back ): Loved it so when I had free time at my school. Played it for 2 years. Now it's gone, so sad. But I'm going to try to play the new sites people suggested. Thanks. My new addiction is Tap Tap Revenge now though XD
WHEN WILL IT GO UP?!?!? I played it for a week in 2008, when I tried getting back on several months later it was down blank... Tried again october 2009 and an image... Tried once a month all 2010 so far and still nothing... I officially give up, lol... Off to random MMORPGs and maybe see about reactivating my old WoW account next year if FFR doesn't pop up...
Ok I did just get on it! But...I was trying to play snakedevil...and I would not pres anything and my points wouldnt go down but when I pressed the keys..and they were on time to the music it would take my points away!!! As of now it is September 1st. It seems like FFR might never be coming back. I've been checking every single month and it went from momentarily down to this stupid screen shot. Thanks for throwing it in our faces that they're slowly trying to rebuild it. Hope it comes back soon. I miss it dearly :/
Flashflash for the most part from what I've read isn't going to return. Synth owes many of his workers money, some up to $10,000. But he wont answer to any of them when it comes down to selling the site to a company that can put it back up and running again. So until that happens, it doesn't look like it will return.
It's the 11th of July, 2010 right now, and I have to say - FFR might be coming back. If you go check the site as of right now, there's a picture up of the FFR site (pretty much as I remember it), and the time and date thing that the person taking the screenprint had open at the bottom is dated the 27th of May, 2010. The site description has also changed from "Patience - check back soon." to "What's My Name?". This has given me, at least, a faint glimpse of hope. I wish to see FFR back up soon, because I was quite addicted to it at the time the site went down, and I've been checking up on it regularly ever since. . .
I've been checking out ffr.lightdarkness.net and I can load and start to play, but for some odd reason when I click the directional buttons there isn't any response; the settings don't stick either. I'll check it out again some other time, but for now looks like I still can't play FFR
Dude Stepmania is crappy compared to FFR. Theres barely a community there, the site makes it difficult to find good stepfiles, and the play leaves something to be desired after using FFR for so long. I looked around the site for about 10 mins and said F-it. I miss FFR =/
Unfortunately, it does seem as though the site is down for good at the moment. However, myself (darkshark), Nsane, and Sprite- are likely going to band together and create another FFR. Nsane has been working on the 3rd style engine for a bit now, and whenever he gets that going, we're putting the site up.
Trust me, not ALL of the staff has abandoned FFR, in fact, most of us were completely willing to work for free on the site. Just be patient, it WILL return, just possibly not as the old FFR.
So it is 2/17/10 and still no FFR. I used to be in the top 100 Average Rank too....but that was before I quit playing a couple months ago. Although no matter how much I would argue that Stepmania is better than FFR, FFR was still a great fun game to play and had songs I still have yet to find for Stepmania. So it is kind of a sad thing the site went down, however, it's not as sad for me as some of the people on here O_O people talking about killing themselves and crying and having FFR spasms lmao....wow...play Stepmania, it's not THAT bad and it is actually more difficult and has MUCH better challenge online. Just Sayin lol. But until further say, RIP FFR. We will miss you...
You kno what. The game could have asked for donations so that it could stay alive.. I know all these people that love ffr would be glad to donate a few bucks to help the financial problems. FFR is my favorite game of all time and only people that have played it before will understand how great the game really is. It was a way to unwind and relax, place to talk to your friends, and a place that you could listen to music and play along it. The site was amazing and well set-up. Bring it back up pleaseeee
Gosh, I loved that website like I loved my girlfriend. Really missed it, and made 2 stepmania vids with 2 FlashFlashRevolution simfiles. My little cousin was already going up to hard and he cried when he heard about the unfortunate tragedy about FFR. My comments about where I got FFR are piling up. PLEASE COME BACK!
It's like never comming back...or at least it seems like it...I've checked that dang website for MONTHS now (shows you how addicted I am) and there is now a screenshot of the site and if you hover the mouse over it it says 'What's my name?'...I don't know it's really wierd but I HOPE IT COMES BACK...without FFR I will be forever bored without any REAL entertainment....={
It's been down for a total of 6 months now. Appearently its supossed to come back tomorrow, and I have a feeling that it actuall will the reason to why its been down is because synth's server went down, and he had to fix it, restore all of the information, and work on a lot of other things. It's obviously going to come back eventually, he's not purposly keeping it down, tomorrow or maybe in a couple of days, it will definatley come back, so guys.. Calm down!! :)
February 9th 2010: I'm not sure if many of you know this, but there is a torrent of the FFR client already available to the public. I believe it was posted earlier.
The link is safe, and so is the torrent. I have downloaded it myself and am successfully playing it. This was just for those who did not know or did not see the link previously.
If you guys need a ddr fix or just ffr, you can download stepmania at stepmania.com and you can either hook up a dance pad to it or use your keys on your computer. I'm sure you could even hook up and xbox or ninetndo or platstation controller too as all the controls can be mapped to preference.
It's almost 11:30 pm here D: 30 more minutes for us along the Atlantic. . . But it they live over by the Pacific, they've got an extra 3 hours till its the end of their day D: Balls.
I doubt it's gone forever... Yeah things are a little crazy right now, but give it a couple months or so and something's bound to happen for the better. Even with the money issues, the site was way too popular to be taken down that easily

I used to play this game so much. I was going to quit once I got in the 1,000, because they will usually make a T-shirt will every name 1-1,000 ranked. I guess I can quit now.
It's still down. I'm actually posting this on March 5 2010. Lazy buggers can't seem to get it back up and running, I've been searching on Youtube for replacements that are just like it.

They said it might come back up in the blog where there was the lo-down post. I was really hoping to get on there and get some songs from the simfile database :( for now they just have a picture up on the page.
The source code says something about June 18th... I was out of town then and couldn't check the site then. Although Toy Story came out June 18th so it might have been that I don't know. I just want to play FFR again :(...
It's now January 20th, and the site is still not up. This is really bad, I miss FFR. Wanted to play it again after this rather long pause, so it's really sad to see a community of 1.5 mio. Players go down like this.
Apparently, the reason they fought was that Synth didn't want to pay Tass or Jason for some reason and canceled his credit card payments on the site, so it got shut down.

WELL LOOKIE WHAT MIRROR FOUND.Go onto ffr.lightdarkness.net WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. NSane from the original FFR (and a few other people I believe) put up an FFR engine on that site. You're going to need to go into options (on the game's page), alter your speedmod (change it so that it has a 0 or a 5 on the end, I recommend 1.75) then click Set Speed. 700+ songs from FFR. :3 Also, if any of my old FFR buddies are here, friend me on www.keybeatonline.com My account name is mirror_eclipse. April 29, 2010 and it's still down. I read somewhere that the CO of FFR was quitting and they need someone to replace him... Still I have no idea why it would take so long...
Checked the site yesterday and there was at least an image up on the site... I don't know if it;s a definite yet, but it looks like FFR might actually be coming back sometime soon... Check back in a month or two to see.
Awww, this totally sucks. I was never great at FFR, but it was still a lot of fun. Well... If it does manage to come back, then awesome, but if not... =(
You all could just go play ITG or ddr in the arcade,, it's still sad to see the site go down, but arcades are dying. Just wish I could still get songs from the site for SM.
2/25/10 I used FFR to get my sim files for stepmania and the ones I want after my hard drive broke can only be found there so I'm never going to get them back -.-.

The FFR site is down forever. It's official. They wouldn't even bother going back to change the message from "Patience-be back soon." We must now find a new game.
Remind me NOT to sign up for the FFR subscription again; I've lost almost 3 weeks that I've paid for, and from what I've read on Tasslefoot's webiste, it looks like Synthlight won't give a flying #($* about reimbursing anyone.
I heard a rumor of FFR coming back online near the end of September 2010 Most likely a false claim, however it would be completely amazing if this is the case. In the meanwhile, I've been keeping my skills up and fresh at ffr.lightdarkness.net for the last few months. In addition there a few friends of mine working on an alternative FFR website with a different design and interface, new songs, and brand new stepfiles. The website for this can be found at www.thirdstyle.com . It is currently in Beta stages right now, but there is a forum with many original FFR players still active.

There's a site where they're trying to revive it, its www.ffreborn.com. They've done a pretty decent job at it, it's nowhere near what FFR was, but it's getting there. It definetly looks a lot like the original FFR

FFR, the original site, is down, but the community has gotten together with Tasselfoot to try and bring back the rest of the community. The reasons why FFR went down are still unsure, as Synthlight has hidden himself from the public eye and away from FFR, but Tass and some others were informed on what he was going through days before the site went down.
