The mobile phones have been available in the UK since 1985, but only became widely used since late 1990s. At the moment it is estimated that more than 40 million Britons, including many children, own a mobile phone.
Cellular mobile phones are often regarded as a fairly recent innovation. However, they have been freely available in the UK for over 20 years.
