If it is a genuine kodak cartridge either your chip on the cartridge is damaged or the contacts in the printer are damaged. If your printer has a red cross on one of the buttons holding it down for 5 seconds normally sorts this problem, at least that's what my customers keep telling me, I own a cartridge shop and website.
