In order to restore your Acer Aspire 5735 laptop to factory settings you firstly need to ensure the computer is on. It is extremely important to make a backup CD of all files that you wish to keep, in case of any data loss. Next you need to ensure that all operating windows are closed down completely, not just minimised. The desktop should now be visible. Click on "Start", and then on "Programs". Scroll down until you find "Acer Recovery Management" and click. A dialog box will now open. Click on the "Restore" button, which appears at the bottom of this dialog box. Following this click "Restore system to factory default" and then a warning dialog box will pop up. Click "Yes" to begin the recovery process. This will take some time and you be prompted when this has completed. Once the process is complete click "start" again to complete the recovery process. If the reason you wish to restore the laptop to factory settings involves not being able to access the start menu you can use the recovery CDs that would have come with the computer. Simply insert CD1 and the process of recovery should begin. Follow the on-screen instructions exactly and only change to CD2 when prompted to do so. If you do not have the recovery CDs that came with the laptop you will need to visit the Acer website, www.acer.co.uk. Click on the link "Support" and you will redirected to a screen with a number of options down the left-hand side. Click "online support" and another screen will open. In the search box type in "restoring factory settings" or "restoring the operating system" and you will be guided through the process. Again, ensure that you have backed up data to a CD, if this is possible.

You can use free backup software, and it can help you make a copy of your OS, with this software, restoring your windows is out of problem.
