The most honest way to get this phone unlocked would be to contact Cricket and see if it is possible for them to trace the original owner.

After all, the person who has lost it in the first place may be someone who can not afford to replace it. If this is not a contract phone, it may not be possible to contact the previous owner unless they have actually registered it.

Should this be the case, Cricket would then be able to unlock the phone for the lucky finder and hey presto, all is well.

If this is not an option, for whatever reason, one of the following ways to unlock the phone can be tried. It should be noted, however, that success is not guaranteed.

These methods have worked for some users but not for all. The first two depend on knowing the phone number associated with the phone and are useless without it.

Method one is to simply key in the last four digits of the phone number. Unless the previous user has changed the pin from the default, this should unlock the phone.

Should this fail to work, the pin may have been changed. Keying in *228 should reset it to the default, which will be the last four digits of the phone number.

There are two possible options if the number is unknown. One is to turn off the phone and then turn it back on, while holding both the volume up and send buttons at the same time.

Alternatively, the phone can be reset. The reset button is located underneath the battery and sits in a tiny hole with an R next to it. It can be pressed using a pin or the tip of a pen.

If all else fails, Cricket will have to be contacted.
