Click the Start Menu, click Run, in the box type cmd. When the command prompt comes up, type ping [address] where [address] is the ip address (i.e. 192.168.1.3) or url (i.e. Yahoo.com). This will allow you to ping another computer or server.

Just go to run option, give ping command with which system you want to ping that system ip address like (ping space ip address.).

I want to ping test an ip address to see where the physical origin is ?  Such as country or state? City etc.

You require to talk to him on yahoo msgr. When the person is chatting go to msdos. Type net stat and press enter. Find its IP with yahoo's name. Another command you can use is arp-a to know all possible connections.
