One thing I think the whole tragedy has highlighted is that the word "terrorism" has really cemented itself in our society and political consciousness.

What I find interesting is how quickly the media jumped to use the word "terrorism".

Yes, the crime was committed for religious or political purposes, and was … Read more

There are so many great TED talks that it's really hard to pick just one, especially as what we find inspirational may vary from day to day, as well as the fact that "inspirational" is quite a loose concept in itself, and doesn't make clear what it is that we wish to be inspired to do.

Couldn't agree more Kass, as with all these recent developments in Social Media there are undoubted benefits and uses but also plenty of concerns surrounding the long-term effects on the human condition. I guess we're all in it together and have got to accept responsibility for any consequences that come from our use of these … Read more

I'd say so. There are three main issues I have with Snapchat:

1) It's not as secure as you might think.

2) It encourages people to share things they'll probably regret.

3) It makes it difficult to prosecute people who distribute illegal images or abuse people online.

How Snapchat might ruin your life

Hi Sam, this is a very good question - for her supporters, every improvement in general welfare since the 1980s is down to her ideals and policies.

However, for her detractors, every social and economic ill of the last 20 years is a direct result of … Read more

So far, I'm quite impressed with it. It seems to have a similar niche that Yahoo Answers has. That's my first stop when I need to ask a question. I think that Blurtit needs to mould it's niche around the community aspect a lot. Yahoo Answers obviously has quite a strong sense of community, with … Read more

Hi Dan,

There are going to be any number of way of answering this, dependent on how you define 'best' and 'worst'. Opinions are also going to be dependent on whether you consider yourself a beneficiary of her policies, or a victim, and on your political affiliation (which is often bizarrely not related to your … Read more

Like everything else in evolution there are many parts to this. Evolution is a messy set of useful characterisitics that hang around because they work (help us survive and reproduce), and the ones that make us nice to each other are no exception. At the most basic and mathematically sound level, it follows that we … Read more

It is the nature of the consumerist society that part of what people use to define themselves to others is the products they buy. In the case of an expensive purchase such as a laptop, car etc, people have had to put a lot of their hard earned money towards it and have likely considered … Read more

Sam Wilson answered Yo Kass' question

Well Kass, this is really an unanswerable question. As the internet is not a thing in and of itself, and is really the sum of its many parts - it would be nearly impossible to give an accurate measure of how much data is available at any one time.

The internet is constantly expanding, … Read more

I don't believe that the current situation on the Korean peninsula will escalate into a full blown war. The North Korean regime (or the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, as it is known) has one goal: Survival. It will not achieve this through launching missiles against the United States. If war did break out, the … Read more

I think it depends which ones you get, really. I've taken the usual multivitamins that you get in chemists, and not noticed any real differences.

Berocca

The only multivitamins that I've actually noticed a difference from taking are Berocca, or own-brand equivalents - Boots' version is much cheaper, and is the one I go for. The orange … Read more
