An aerial receiving electromagnetic waves cannot distinguish between a genuine signal and a the interfering radiation .if the signal is AM the interference is considered as a part of the modulation and so it becomes audible in the output provided by the receiver signal generating NOISE. .BUT in FM the inteRference is not picked up because it is only variations in frequency that matter so reception is better in case of FM as compared to AM .

The maximum frequency broadcasting on AM is well below the highest frequency audible to human ear which is not so in FM so the quality of AM IS POORER than FM .for examples songs having high frequencies can not be played on AM properly!!!

1. Lesser distortion. Frequency modulated wave is less susceptible to intereferences from buildings, traffic etc which provides improved signal to noise ratio (about 25dB) w.r.t. To man made interference.
2. Waves at higher frequencies can carry more data than the waves at low frequency.
3. Smaller geographical interference between neighboring stations.
4. Less radiated power.
5. Well defined service areas for given transmitter power.

FM is more clear in transmission than AM.Its wave length is short whereas the frequency is high and vise verse for AM. Here the frequency is modulated and in AM amplitude is modulated. Natural or human activity like traffic etc doesn't effect the FM transmission whereas AM transmission gets effected.

No. Because fm transmission works for more than 30 MHz.
