A substance which does not have free ions and has molecules which do not conduct electricity either in the molten state or in the aqueous form is known as non-electrolyte. On the other hand, a substance which has free electrons which conduct electricity is known as electrolyte. Example of non-electrolyte is sucrose and ethanol.
