Hello Cool Spot,

Like Didge, I was well along into my majority...first mobile phone was the spring of 2012, and I was not quite 68 years old then.

I cant remember my age but it looked just like this kind of cell phone.

Its fate met by a small puddle. RIP flip phone.

My mother dropped her LG chocolate in the toilet and it still worked. The way my Father messed his up was sand! take your phone to the beach watch out for that stuff. Scratch certain screens. Me on the other hand, I walked down the street and found my phone in a puddle. I knew it was fried sat there for like an hour!

I got my first phone back in 2007. I had turned 18 when my dad bought me my first phone. It is actually an interesting story. I wanted a phone for a long time and my dad believed it was soon for me to have one. I failed geometry several times at school and my dad promised me to buy a phone if I passed LOL:-D I got a 10.50 and passed it finally and my dad kept his promise:-D I was terrible at geometry:))

I got my first phone back in 2006 .. And I'm not telling how old I was.  But I wasn't a teenager!  Lol    Many of us lived our entire lives without a cell phone up to that point ..

I'm guessing that I got my first one around 2000. I bought 4 of the Nextel rugged phones for the guys on my construction crew. They had the click to talk feature which was very handy while working. They were pretty big and weighed a ton.

I still feel uneasy remembering I spent 400$ on an "LG venus" phone. Did not even have a keyboard, and I spent 400. I must been out of my mind. Nicknamed it the penis phone. TMI?

I got one while i've been nearly 14 or 15, i'm 20 now, so it's like few years i'm using decent phone (by decent i don't mean by price i mean by using it in a real way not playing Clash of clan or something)

I'm proud of that tho! Got it when it started to feel necessary with no drama. I'm not a fan of many of today's spoiled mobile productions either. I guess in a near future, we buy a phone and it's as big as a LCD.

Yeah holding a smartphone around really consumes a lot of time. For me at least. I thought It would be impossible to live without one! it was actually not hard for me. But I believe the tablets (and more recently) the computer & tablet in one devices have taken that spot already. Therefore, I dont think smartphones will get much bigger like that. funny though.

1998, my wife insisted I get one for when I was fishing. If I had a problem with my heart, I could call for help.  Must have been 3 or 4 years before anyone knew the number. I never called anyone on it.

I was 38 and the year was 2000. I actually bought for my husband because he traveled quite a bit in areas that didn't have a lot of civilization. I wanted him to be able to call for help. I kept it with me when he wasn't traveling. It was a Keyocera Qualcomm.

I got my first phone back in 2012 because that was the first time I went to an engineering camp out of state by myself. It was a flip phone from Tracfone.

I now still use a Tracfone phone but a different kind of phone since I lost the flip phone the following year during a school field trip. I have yet to get a smart phone haha! But with wifi being so common nowadays, my iPod Touch is sufficient enough.

Mine was a Sony Ericsson back in 2001. My dad bought a four phone plan so that my sister and I could get a hold of my mom or dad no matter what. (We had just found out about my sisters Leukemia and I was driving back home from work late at night in a broken car on a desolate road.) It just made since to my dad. Hay I STILL have the same phone number to! LOL!

I really hated the blackberries with that physical scroller ball. Its amazing to me that apple made the same exact mistake on their computer mouses on the Imacs. Man those things just collect debris and stop rolling properly. I had to take the Imac mouse apart and assemble it again.

Yes they were. That is why I like the dinosaur phones. Don't know what an IPhone is..... hate my husbands stupid phone.... I swear it is possessed and it hates me! I don't need all that technology stuff. Just give me a dial pad, texting, address book and alarm and I am set! I don't even use my phone as a camera. Got a REAL camera for taking pictures! LOL!
