What do you guys think about an app that allows landlords to live stream viewings of their property to groups of potential tenants all at once? Useful? Or not so much?

Like you had said in your comment, I think it could be great to view the vacant unit via a live stream. It would definitely help in saving time when trying to view several places in a short period of time. I do think that the final decision should be made after a physical visit, though.

Yup totally agreed, hopefully it means the landlord just needs to do one or two real life viewings to close the deal...thanks for the answer

There are already virtual tours of apartments and villas online. Im not sure what would be the point of a live stream. I like the app idea though, and believe that if you could find a way to have a mobile compatible virtual tour aswell as a listing guide so many property owners could list their locations you would have quite a useful app on your hands...

Yes it would be mobile, and the live idea is so that people can actually ask questions and interact as they would in a real life viewing

I am assuming this live steam is from the outside of the home .. not the inside. Inside the home would be a complete violation of your right to privacy. Cameras placed for security reasons .. even on rentals properties have boundaries and would fall under guidelines set by privacy laws.

I don't buy the 'for prospective tentants' excuse at all .. The only reason anyone would use LIVE streaming is to snoop or to keep a eye on the goings on.

No no the landlord would use their phone camera to give a live tour of their empty property so multiple people could watch the clip and ask questions as he shows them around... I'm not talking about fitting cameras in or filming while there are people living in the house

Then, logically speaking, that invades no one's privacy .. and as the property owner, he can film or record what ever he wants to show who ever he wants.

Realtors in my area already do that.
It's called a "virtual open house".

I watched the link and I like the concept. It would be useful for people who are moving from a different part of the country, at least it gives them a idea before they decide to travel and view it. I'm not sure how many people would rent it straight off, most like to take a look around the area and check out the neighbours O_O  :)

Hey thanks for checking it out and the answer, yeah I agree, I'd also like to see it in person too - but it's the kind of tool I would have found really useful every time I've had to find a new place

Absolutely. My cousin has just rented her 3 bedroom house to a family who travelled down from Scotland (we like in the South East), luckily for them it wasn't a wasted journey. So I can definitely see its usefulnesss, and appeal.
