Security clearances are usually based on the type of work a person would be doing and what level of classified material or activity the individual would be exposed to. The higher the required security clearance the more costly the background investigation would be.

The company determines the positions that require a security clearance, as well as the level required, based upon the duties and responsibilities of each position. This determination is based on contractual needs and requirements.
