What do you think about Microsoft ditching Internet Explorer? I also hear something about them renaming it Spartans Project but I'm thinking that's a new browser all of it's own...

It's about time they did something with that clunker ! It will come with Windows 10 and it is called Spartan. I beta-tested Windows 10 for about 3 months and got to use Spartan some in it's infancy. I think it's going to be great, fast , and easy to use. Major improvement. The whole Windows 10 OS is going to be a hit. Spartan will be able to compete with Chrome and Firefox. Goodbye, I.E. !

Yep I think so I am addicted to window sounds. Isn't that weird? I've  got to hear that click when I browse the web? Hahha ! I think that's reason I adapted so easy with Firefox cause they have add-on where you can hear window sounds LoL

IE is far beyond it's use-by date. I hadn't heard of Spartan and will look forward to trying it out. Even so, it'll have to be very good indeed before I give up my Firefox. Thanks for the info, Rooster.

Well, they already changed it to the " Edge ". Seems to be OK. Still better than IE !

Internet explorer may now be "bloatware" but it still has more market share than all the other browsers put together in the desktop market.

Microsoft will not give up that marketing opportunity easily.

From what I've seen of " Spartan " and now the " Edge ", it's just a more modern version of IE with a new name. It is faster loading than IE and that's kind of nice.

Edge will be faster and lighter since microsoft removed a lot of useless codes and bloat codes from IE's old rendering Engine. Edge will be faster and lighter lol.

Finally! But you know, I dumped Windows 2 years ago for ChromeOS lol.... And btw. Spartan's new name is Microsoft Edge.

BUT, keep in mind the Edge's rendering engine code is just a fork from IE's Trident engine (they slimed it down and got rid of tons of codes that are useless).. basically, they are starting from scratch and rebuilding it. and they will keep building onto it as time goes on.
