Operation KKK is a virtual attack on the Ku Klux Klan currently being carried out by the collective group of hacktivists known as Anonymous.  It all came about when the Ku Klux Klan decided to send out a flyer to Ferguson residents, suggesting that they would use lethal force against protesters.

The flyer reads: "You have been warned by the Ku Klux Klan! There will be consequences for your actions".  It also stated that the Ku Klux Klan would use force against "terrorists masquerading as peaceful protesters."

How have Anonymous reacted?

Anonymous have responded to the Ku Klux Klan's threats by gathering person information on members of the KKK and releasing them to the general public.

It's yet to be seen how far Anonymous will go in their campaign against the KKK, but they've certainly delivered on their promise to release information about individual Klansmen.

You can watch the newly released Anonymous video relating to Operation KKK below, which is being hashtagged with #OpKKK on Twitter:

What do you make of the current operation against the Ku Klux Klan? Are you in favour of the response made by Anonymous, or do you think it's wrong to release personal information to the general public?

The virtual attack on the Ku Klux Klan codenamed Operation KKK is still continuing. In the past few days 'Anonymous' (the only name the person or persons behind Operation KKK uses) has hacked the Klan's twitter account and the Klan, in turn, hacked his!

We are getting a lot of #HoodsOff and #HoodsOn depending on who is being hacked at the time.

It will actually be rather interesting to see what happens with this as the KKK have never been a very popular group of people but this attack is unlike any in the past.

However, the Ku Klux Klan have gone for some radical rebranding in the past two weeks. They are now apparently welcoming Jews, homosexuals and black people and calling themselves 'The Rocky Mountain Knights'

This is rather a turnaround as they have always hated black people, Jewish people and anyone else that did not fit into their 'ideal'

I remember an episode of the Jerry Springer show in which a young member of the KKK said that she would kill Jerry's daughter "in a heartbeat" because the family are Jewish. I have included the clip below.

I understand Anonymous responding like they did, but it does seem a bit like fighting fire with fire. Luckily they seem to have gone for the flame thrower so I think they'll be okay!

The Ku Klux Klan is in no position to make the kind of the kind of threats they did, and it's hard believe a hate group like them is still able to operate in this day and age. Still, the consequences for those exposed members could be massive, and I'm never going to think it's good when people get hurt.
