iCloud storage is available for free for anyone with an Apple ID. Hurrah!

However, like many "free"things in this life, there are limitations to this. You only get 5GB of storage, if you want any more you'll have to pay, but the good thing is it's pretty cheap.

There are various plans available, each with a monthly charge.

  • 20 GB - $0.99 per month
  • 200 GB - $3.99 per month
  • 500 GB - $9.99 per month
  • 1 TB - $19.99 per month

If you need any more than a terrabyte then I would recommend specialist cloud storage rather than iCloud, which is designed more in mind to link up all of your apple devices, rather than offer a huge amount of storage.

To put the above numbers in perspective, 1 TB will give you enough storage for:

  • 17,000 hours of music
  • 320,000 high resolution photos
  • 1000 hours of digital video
Remember to make sure your iCloud is secure though. I'm sure you've heard about the recent "hacking" scandals, where celebrities have had their accounts broken into and personal data and photos compromised. So make sure your apple password is strong (use upper and lowercase letters and numbers and special characters), and change it regularly.
