How is biggest fans determined on Tumblr?
Biggest fans on Tumblr is based on two things:
- Engagement
- Pageviews
There has been some speculation as to how Tumblr's algorithm picks your biggest fans. The reason for the confusion is that, often, the biggest fans aren't necessarily the ones that interact with your Tumblr content the most.
My theory is that this is simply because Tumblr takes both interactions and pageviews into consideration.
While I can't be certain how it's weighted, I'd guess that it is possible for pageviews alone to outweigh interactions on someone's Tumblr, and this would result in someone who you've never received notifications about all of a suddenly cropping up in your biggest fans feed.
