If you use Pinterest, can you please explain to me what this whole "add a map to your board" thing is all about? I don't get it and it just confuses me.

If you like travelling, pictures of travelling, or Pinterest in general.. Then this might be a feature you'll really dig!

Basically, it allows you to pin images (either your own or ones posted by other users) onto a world map - the same way you would on a normal board.

To get started, simply create a board - and leave the "Add a map?" option turned on.

You then search for a place in the world (could be somewhere you've been and want to upload photos of, or somewhere you'd like to visit in the future).

Write a brief description, select the image, and you've got a new pin on your map!

The technology used to create this interface was made possible through a collaboration with FourSquare.

Travel-brands like Travel Advisor, Airbnb, and Lonely Planet have been quick to support Pinterest by creating their own map-boards, which feature in a special feed designed to show users just how cool this new functionality can be.
