Apple is billing it as their ‘most advanced mobile operating system ever’, so it’s an excellent question to ask whether or not iOS 8 is actually going to be any good. So far, they’ve only been teasing a preview of the new features, but they all sound pretty impressive.
Some of the biggest and best changes include:
1. It will be much easier to share things with your friends and family. Services like Netflix have found great success in allowing users to create multiple profiles for the same account, with Netflix enabling friends and family to have up to five people connected to one paid account. IOS will be tapping into that same territory, making it possible to share photos, films, music, and more with up to six other people.
2. Those photos will be available on all of your connected devices, which means you can take a photo on your iPhone whilst you’re sipping margaritas on a Hawaii beach and make whoever’s at home using your iPad incredibly jealous!
3. Developers have a lot more access to create new apps. Some of the biggest success stories in the technology market in recent years have come out of individuals and teams building apps that have changed
the nature of how we use our phones. Snapchat is of course the most recent example, created by students at Stanford only three years ago. They revealed that users now send around 700 million photos and videos a day.
4. IOS 8 will also feature a much more intuitive keyboard. Apple’s preview shows that the new operating system will make recommendations that are based on context, which is a huge draw over its competitors.
With iOS 8 giving developers like them the tools they need to create new applications, I think the best things about the latest operating system are still to come! The greatest innovations come when you open up tools like these to the public. So whilst some of iOS 8’s best features might not be available on launch day, it won’t be long before they’re adding even more strings to their bow once these new apps hit the ground running!
