My Computer Seems To Be Running Really Slow And I'm Worried I Might Have A Virus Or Something On My Computer. I Keep Getting Little Pop Ups Every Now And Again Too But My Current Virus Checker Does Not Pick Anything Up. I've Heard Of 'Hijack This' But I'm Unsure As To What It Is And How To Work It?

Hijack this really is great virus scanner. It often picks up malicious software, spyware, and viruses which your current virus checker may have missed for whatever reason. However, unless you know what you are doing, it can be quite risky to use. This is because Hijack This scans all of the running programs on your computer. The results bring up a list of running programs and it does not tell you which ones are dangerous and which ones are vital for your computer to work. This means that unless you know what your computer needs and what shouldn't be there, you may end up deleting something which was needed and your computer could fail to work.

There are forums which help you with Hijack This, so it is completely possible to download the software, run a scan and save the scan results without doing anything, then post them onto a forum. Experts will then help you to remove what is needed, if anything, and your computer will still be safe! The Hijack This software is completely free and it really is great to have too! It is definitely recommended for all computer users.

If you have Norton Anti Virus, use it! Then defrag your computer. Every time you get online and down load something, the pop ups seem to "pop up"! Just be careful and not open anything you are not sure of!

Go through your hard disk and delete programs that you don't need, or games that you don't play. Run defragmentation and try again. It may be that you only have a slow connection, or tat your computer has too much dross to search through before finding all that it needs to work properly and quickly.
