I think the major cause of telecommuting jobs is the downfall of the company and they want to save it by hiring telecommuters where someone can work at the comfort of their home. Some companies are hiring virtual assistants who work at home using their own pc with reliable internet connection. I think the affect of this is good in a telecommuter side as they don't need to wake early just to take a bath, commute and rush to the company
