WeeWorld is an avatar based online computer game, designed primarily for an audience of young people of the ages thirteen and over. The game itself is a virtual world which players explore using the animated avatars they design themselves, called their 'WeeMee'. When making their own WeeMee, players have to go through a process of choosing many of their avatar's characteristics, including gender, hair colour, head shape skin colour and eye colour, followed by their choice from a selection of clothes, body shapes, and hair styles. Users can sign up to make a Weeworld account for free, on the game's website, www.weeworld.com. Since its creation, thw website boasts of over forty million WeeMees being created worldwide. Once their WeeMee is complete users have the ability to integrate their WeeMee avatars with other WeeWorld partner sites, such as AOL, Skype, Microsoft, as well as blogging and social networking sites. The game itself allows players to communicate via their WeeMee in real time with other players. As well as being able to play games and take part in quests, they can also access a virtual shopping mall where they may buy clothes and accessories - mostly based upon popular cultural and fashion trends tin order to attract the game's teen demographic - to dress their avatars, as well as food and drink for them. They can also buy specialised goods from connected companies like the NBA. WeeWord is a private company which is owned by Accel Partners and Benchmark Press. It continues to see a large rate of growth, especially as a result of its partnerships with other related organisations and celebrities, such as Rocawear, the NBA, Justin Timberlake, and the Jonas brothers.
