For a re-writeable disk, the best way to get it cleaned after you might hav used it is with a burner software like Nero, windows can clean it though, a program designed for that purpose is better. When you hav Nero or any good disc burner software Installed it will automatically giv you an option to erase d disc. After you've inserted d disc, open your burner program, you'll c option to erase disc. xploringit.co.cc

Before you start transferring files to your CD or DVD, the disc must first be made ready by means of a process called formatting. There are numerous ways to format a CD or a DVD disc. Firstly you will have to insert a disc into your computer's CD or DVD drive.

Then, in the dialogue box which appears, click burn files to compact disc. In the burn disc dialogue box, enter a name for your new disc. Then click 'show formatting options'. Then you can choose from 'live file system' or 'mastered'. Choose whichever one is convenient for you and click on it. Then click 'next' to format the disc. This is how you can format a CD or DVD on your windows vista operating system.
