No. It's been about 10 years since I had a land line. I see no need for it.

Dear Roy Roy,

Landline is the ONLY phone I have. Tried a cell phone finally at age 66, and after five years still hated the little sucker.

So when I signed up for the landline here, I went to the antique store and got one of those heavy old phones that actually WORK.

My in-laws still used their black rotary dial phone until they died a few years ago!

Virginia I wish I had my old phone. It was rotary. Apparently in my little neck of the woods the local phone companies do not support Rotary phones.

I know, Barb, Dragonfly, Ancient One...the manufacturers could probably still do the fine technology in the old phones if they wanted, apparently they think it is not necessary?

Yes, I keep it for businesses or people who I don't want knowing my cell phone number.

I'm with Walter on this. I pay $A50 per month for unlimited internet and a landline which gives me all my calls free of charge. And, yes, I do have a cell phone. Even Mrs Didge, who won't go near a computer, loves her cell and is becoming quite adept at using it. No small accomplishment.

But you need to put this into perspective. Phones, like people, have evolved. And here's the proof:

We only still have our landline since it comes as a part of a package from our internet/cable provider.  If we cancelled that .. Our other services would go way up.  It is nice to have since our cell phone service isn't always perfect.

Yes I I do have a landline and this is why.

We have some crazy things happen these days from home invasions to weather affecting cell reception.. I need to be able to dial 9-1-1 if I don't have my cell phone near me.

They are either free now or just $10 a month which is good for piece of mind. I don't have the ringer on so I don't answer those useless sales calls,  but it's there if I need it.

I have used it to call my cell phone if I misplace it. I picked up landline phones, just the basic ones but very nice looking, at the Salvation Army store for $4.00 a piece.

No. We got rid of it 6 years ago when my youngest graduated high school. We only had it for the robocalls that had updates from the school. Now, you can get those calls directed to your cell phone. With everyone having cell phones now, there was no need for an extra bill every month.

Yes, I got one last year for the first time in years. For some reason there isn't great reception at our new house. My satellite radio even goes out up around the corner.

Haven't had a land line in 14 years.  When we first started doing that most of the people around us thought it was really crazy stupid.  Now I hardly know anyone who has a land line in their home.

Hi
Roy! Yes, I do and most people also have it. It is required for us to have high-speed
broadband and the older generations do like to use it a lot anyway. In modern
households, folks all have smartphones and the landline is only used for the
internet to be frank. It’s a bit of a scam, but there is nothing much that we
as individuals can do!?
