That would depend on what you mean by "bane". If you mean obsolete? No. If you mean it means the death or ruin of some ideals? Yes. It also means more direct information and news and current events. The down side to this is religious zealots think it's a sign of worsening crime and despair, when it actually isn't, just easier information accusation.
