How can I persuade my parents to let me get Snapchat? - they don't really like social media but it is hard to get hold of my friends on other sites.

Umm....why not just call your friends?

Why don't you ask them about Skype ? Easy enough to monitor and more privacy. They could see or hear when you were talking with your friends and that might work out better for you.

I use Skype as well. It's the only 'social media' that my parents won't monitor because they know that I only 'friend' people I know, and I only have my family's, and my closest friends' Skype addresses. It's pretty safe, and it works better than FB, Instagram, or Snapchat.

It's an interesting question. I guess to answer it, you'll need to work out exactly why they're against you using Snapchat in the first place.

Is there anything you can do to allay the fears they have about the social platform?

Is there any way your friends would consider using a different app to stay in touch?
